Volunteer Positions
- Administration
- Do you like office work? We have data entry, envelope stuffing, telephone answering. Tuesday - Sunday
- Kennel Care
- This position allows you to get down and dirty. You work alongside staff to maintain the healthy conditions in our animal shelter - clean the dishes and toys and help with the laundry. Shifts available every day.
- Adoption Assistant
- Help prospective adopters by introducing them to pets they are interested in. Tuesday - Sunday.
- Animal Companion
- Help animals become more adoptable and help reduce shelter stress by providing exercise, stimulation and playtime. Tuesday - Sunday.
- Animeals
- If you like meeting people, this volunteer position puts you in your car on the first Saturday of each month delivering quality pet food to homebound and/or senior pet owners.
- Pet-a-Pet
- Take your own pet to nursing homes to visit with the residents as a therapy dog. Set up a schedule with the nursing home and do this at on your own schedule. If you are interested, please contact Jeanette Wilson at (813) 774-4306.
- Community Events
- This is an opportunity for you to learn more about your community! You can help staff the HSTB information table at a variety of events throughout the year and help promote our programs and services.
- Humane Education
- If you enjoy public speaking and can communicate with preschoolers to adults, this volunteer opportunity is for you. Share your compassion for animals with someone who wants to know.
- Spay/Neuter Clinic positions
- If you like to do a variety of activities, there is always something to do at the spay/neuter clinic. You can answers telephones in the office, complete registration forms, clean the pet cages after recovery, or prepare the "sterile packs" for the next day surgeries. Monday - Friday
- Special Events/Fundraising Positions
- You can help in the planning and production of our Special Events, like "Bark in the Park," Pet Telethon, "Passion for Pets" and "Tuxes & Tails." These fun events provide a diverse range of opportunities to use your skills and creativity. We also have a number of smaller events, such as Pondscapes Tour of Ponds, "Scratch My Back," Pumpkin Patch, and Holiday Pet Photos, if you only have a few hours to spare.
