www.Petango.com also lists our cats and dogs available for adoption.  Petfinder will no longer have a complete list of adoptable Humane Society of Tampa Bay pets.  Petango is a real-time searchable database of pets in need of loving homes. Petango's mission is to support the adoption of homeless pets throughout North America by assisting animal welfare organizations in finding homes for these pets, as well as facilitate the thousands of families looking to welcome these pets into their homes each year. Through the creation of an advanced and easy to use website, Petango hopes to increase the number of adoptable pets finding homes and decrease the strain on animal welfare organizations currently housing these pets.

HSTB participates in the ASPCA's Meet Your Match TM program; MYM evaluates an animal's behavior and interests and matches them to an adopter's preferences so that you take home the right dog or cat for you. As an adopter, you get a color pass based on your preferences and lifestyle, either purple, orange or green. This pass will lead you to pets who might suite you best. You don't have to go with your own color, but at least you'll know what you're up against. Save some time by filling out your adoption paperwork before you get here. Click Cat  or  Dog

When viewing our website, we cannot guarantee that these pets will still be available when you arrive at the shelter, but the site is live, so once a pet is adopted, they will drop off our website. We always have many wonderful dogs and cats, friendly and playful, in need of caring and responsible owners to provide them forever homes.

Our adoption package includes vaccinations, a health check, de-worming, a bath, de-fleaing, microchipping, and spaying or neutering prior to placement. Pets who are four months of age or older receive a rabies vaccine. All dogs receive a DHLPP vaccine and are heartworm-tested at five months of age or older. All cats receive a FVRCP vaccine and have tested negative for FeLV/FIV.

A checkup with your veterinarian is required within 10 days of placement in your home. Your veterinarian can setup your new pet's account, perform a thorough evaluation, and determine if any additional vaccines are necessary for your pet's protection. In addition, he or she will make recommendations as to heartworm prevention and flea control to help maintain your pet's good health. Many area veterinarians provide a free initial health evaluation for pets adopted from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
