Staff
Dr. Terry Spencer
Dr. Terry Spencer graduated in 1995 from vet school at Colorado State University. She ran a small animal practice and contracted as a shelter veterinarian in Monterey County, California prior to moving "back home" to Florida in 2004. She has worked exclusively as a shelter veterinarian since then, joining the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in May 2009. She is particularly interested in disaster medicine and forensic medicine, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Pasco Hernando Veterinary Medical Association as well as on the Animal Welfare Committee for the Florida Veterinary Medical Association. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Spencer earned a BA in Zoology and MEd in Science Education from the University of South Florida. For For 14 years she taught science and environmental education for students of all ages before changing career paths. Currently, Terry has two young sons to keep her busy at home, in addition to four dogs and two cats and any other animals the kids bring home for their 4H projects. In her leisure time, Terry enjoys kayaking, snorkeling, gardening, and traveling to places with great beaches and good food.
